Travel Day #42 stats

Scott here. December 4, 2023, we traveled from the USA to the Bahamas! Very exciting for us in so many ways. Rita will share more of that in her posts though! Let’s get down to the dirty stats here.

Our plan was to stay at Bimini Big Game Club Marina. Customs is on-site, immigration is a block away. But, when I called them they quoted me $3.50 a foot. OK, I asked about power, $1.50 a foot, I asked about water, $1.50 a foot. So, in reality it would have been $6.50 a foot or $321.75 including 10% VAT. Hmmmm, no thanks. On the way in, I look at a neighboring marina, Bimini Blue Water Marina, OK reviews, not nearly the amenities, but we are only planning on one night.

Once in front of a marina we just looked at 15 minutes ago, we hailed them on the radio to see if they had a slip available. They did, we are not yet into the tourist season I have discovered. They were $1.75 a foot, $15 for power and $0,75 per gallon for water. We ended up paying $108.03. Customs was just a block away. Plus, JR the dock hand was excellent and knew exactly what he was doing.

Bahamas now has you do everything on-line. We uploaded all our forms, copies of passport, driver’s license, and all Jazzy info into their on-line system. Well, Rita did all that, not me. I took the hard copies of everything as well, since I heard we needed to do that. Only thing I had to look up was the boat’s document number. I had that form so it was easy. Customs was done and I walked to immigration 1 more block down the road. Passports, he looked everything up, stamp, stamp and I was on the way and we are good in the Bahamas for 90 days!

Good long walk with Jazzy and we picked up a BTC prepaid sim card and I will see if I can get that to work in Rita’s burner phone so we have a Bahamas phone number to call marinas and what not.

Until next time….

Our AGLCA & Q flag flying in the Bahamas.
