Nov. 24, 23 update

The anchorage we were in, Pendarvis Cove, was a good but crowded place. A short trip to shore to walk Jazzy. It does look like we dragged anchor a little during the night. The alarm didn’t go off, but we were at 95% of my set distance from the anchor.

When we woke up Thanksgiving morning, we discovered that our freshwater pump decided to die. That means no fresh running water. I should have purchased a spare, but I didn’t. So, we moved to a marina less than 2 miles away, so we could have running water. The trip was only 1.7 miles but took 34 minutes. We had to wait for a train to go by and a railroad bridge to open.

Black Friday (today) we walked to, what I thought was a marine store. Turns out the parent company sells equipment online and the individual stores just installs. BOE Marine of Stuart. Go there if you need electronic work done. The manager, Jeremy, was the only guy working, explained why they didn’t have a freshwater pump and offered to give us a ride to West Marine 2.5 miles down the road and ride back to the marina. He felt a little bad for us after he found out we were walking and made the offer. We gladly took him up on the offer!

After buying more that we went there for (including a spare freshwater pump), since we didn’t have to carry anything, we went back to the boat. I had some water tubing I have wanted to change out to Pex, so now was the time to do it. Rip out the old pump, change out to Pex, connect everything and Viola we have fresh water!!

Then I take the dog for a walk and as I was going from the swim platform to the fixed dock, I take a spill and fall backwards. I didn’t go in the water!! Well, part of my right foot did, but I landed on the freshwater hose and pulled it away from the boat and broke the freshwater regulator.

Argggg, I am now in extreme pain, feeling very frustrated and defeated. Time to breakdown again. Get myself back together and figured out what we need to do. Rita found out what the part is called and found one at West Marine. Guess where we are going again? I am in too much pain to walk there and back so we took an Uber to get there and walked the 3.5 miles back to the boat.

The freshwater regulator is not moving. We have the screws out, caulk removed, but it is not moving. At this point I figure the water pipe it is connected to has no give and needs to be disconnected from behind the regulator. That means I need to crawl in the back of the boat to try and disconnect it. With my now painful back I scoot back and am able to loosen the connection, but not disconnect it. In the process I break the sewer pipe going from the aft vacu-flush toilet to the black tank. No sewage was lost!! The broken sewer connections were covered so we don’t have a stink on the boat!

Time for me to throw in the towel! I call one place that is closed now for the weekend, but someone answered the phone. He let’s me know they should be able to have someone dispatched Monday morning, I just need to call them at 8 am on Monday.

Yesterday we met some Loopers that have been in the marina for too long that they are afraid the FL Tax Man is going to come after them. Florida has a 90-day limit for out-of-state boats to be in Florida before the boat needs to be registered in FL. You can get a Sojourner’s Permit, which I believe allows you to keep the boat in FL for 6 months. They are past that time. Anyway, they have a guy doing some work on their boat, I walk over to their boat and talked with him. He will be over later tonight when he is done with them to take a look and give us a price to fix what I broke.
