Travel Day #12 stats

Scott here

Lesson learned. When I schedule a post I need to make sure my computer or something gets on the internet to get out! This part of the Mississippi River seems to be in the middle of nowhere with slim to no internet. Tonight we are close to a highway, so we should have some internet access.

Traveling in a boat means we need to be flexible and today is a prime example. Take a look below on how far off I was in today’s travels.

Kaskaskia Lock to Little River Diversion
ACTUAL Kaskaskia Lock to Boston Bar Anchorage
Start at: 7:00 am ACTUAL 7:00 am
End at: 3:00 pm ACTUAL 5:18 pm
Total Time: 7:47 ACTUAL 10:10 Hours
Distance: 70.2 miles ACTUAL 113 miles

Yep, plans changed about 1 hour before we reached our initial destination. We were getting a pretty good push from the river and we were going to be at our initial anchorage around 1 or 1:30 pm. That was just too much daylight going to waste for us! I contacted our buddy boats (Cheers, Carmel, and Dove) to let them know we were going to continue on to the Boston Bar anchorage. Some friends were there last night and had a good experience and if we increased our speed to around 12 mph we would get there before 5:30 pm. Everyone decided that was a good idea or were already thinking about it as well. So off we went! We pretty much did 2 days in one.

I guess we can now say we anchored on the Mississippi River for the night. Cross your fingers to make sure it all works well for the night! I have confidence in the anchor and I am comfortable that it is set well. The anchor alarm is set and bed time will come early again tonight!!
