We seriously considered going the Alton Marina, it is only 15 miles or so, but the would have been another 1 1/2 hours at a minimum. That is too close to 6 pm and getting close to sunset. Just not worth the risk. So we will spend one night in Grafton.

We didn’t get going as early as I would have liked due to fog in the anchorage and on the river. By the time we left the anchorage was still foggy, but we were the last to leave. Visibility on the river was about 1 mile. I pretty much steered based on the charts for the first couple of hours! Otherwise, my estimates were pretty good in my opinion. We went faster than expected and that is why it took less time. We averaged 9.1 mph with a top speed of 15 mph passing a barge or two.
