Scott here….
Hopefully we can try this again, we need to leave Sturt eventually! We have received our Pet Permit from the Bahamas, just need a USA vet to sign off on her and we will be good to cross the Gulf Stream and finally be in the Bahamas.
Although, vet the appointment isn’t until Dec 4. My long range weather outlook doesn’t look great right now anyway. The Windy app goes to Dec 8 and it looks to rough to head over. We will plan to go from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale and maybe down to Miami as we wait for the window to cross.
This plan is the same part 2 plan we had yesterday.
Initial Plan
Date: November 29, 2023
Nebo Link: Click here
Crew: Captain Scott, 1st Mate Rita, & K9 Jazzy
Start at: 1:00 pm
End at: 3:30 pm
Total Time: 2:24 hours
Distance: 21.07 miles
I don’t really expect to get 21.7 miles, but you never know. The goal anchorage is Hell Gate Cove at mm 1,002. Notes say there is room for about 6 boats, but there isn’t any protection from North winds and it looks like we will have 11-19 mph winds from the NW Tuesday night.
Hobe Sound at mm 998.3. Room for 4-5 boats. Looks like wind exposure is only from the South and South East. This might be a better option.
Harbor Island in Hobe Sound at mm 997.5. Not a lot of comments on this spot, but it might be open to NW winds.
Hooker Cove at mm 2.7 of the St. Lucie River. This is still in Stuart and only 5.1 miles from our starting point at the City Docks. If winds are stronger than expected this will be a good spot for NW wind protection.
