Travel Day Nov. 28, 23 (Stuart ->Stuart–>Jupiter) Travel Day # 38

Scott here. November 28, 2023, will be travel day #38 for us. Today will be a 2-part travel day. We are starting in Stuart at Safe Harbor Harborage Yacht and heading to Stuart City docks then heading to Jupiter.

It makes sense. If you remember after fixing our water pump I was getting off the boat and fell backwards and landed on the swim platform and our water hose breaking the freshwater regulator. In the process of “fixing” the freshwater regulator I broke the sewer connection of our vacu-flush toilet. I threw in the white towel and called for help.

Help came on Monday. As the tech fixed the freshwater regulator I understood where my mistakes occurred. The new regulator was a 1/2″ larger than the original. All brands of the new freshwater regulators are larger than the original. The hole had to be enlarged and the screw holes to hold it to the hull had to be moved. Nothing is easy. In addition, parts had to be ordered for the vacu-flush that will be here Tuesday.

I don’t really expect to get 21.7 miles, but you never know. The goal anchorage is Hell Gate Cove at mm 1,002. Notes say there is room for about 6 boats, but there isn’t any protection from North winds and it looks like we will have 11-19 mph winds from the NW Tuesday night.

Hobe Sound at mm 998.3. Room for 4-5 boats. Looks like wind exposure is only from the South and South East. This might be a better option.

Harbor Island in Hobe Sound at mm 997.5. Not a lot of comments on this spot, but it might be open to NW winds.

Hooker Cove at mm 2.7 of the St. Lucie River. This is still in Stuart and only 5.1 miles from our starting point at the City Docks. If winds are stronger than expected this will be a good spot for NW wind protection.
