Scott here. November 5, 2023 we traveled from Mobile, AL (Grand Mariner Marina) to Orange Beach, FL (The Warf Marina.) We started the day early since the clocks fell back and we were awake. As we left the marina we went directly into the sun for a while. So, I watch the water and Rita kept an eye on the screens making sure I stay in the channel. The green and red buoys are a long way from each other, so it is pretty easy to slide outside the channel.
Once we made it into the shipping channel heading south the weather seemed to be perfect. Again, we saw dolphins enjoying our wake and swimming by the boat. That will never get old!
We went our 18 miles south and took a sharp left turn to go into “Middle Channel” and the weather changed. It probably stayed the same, the 1′ waves were hitting us on the beam and the 13-mph wind was not hitting us on the beam. It made for a pretty lumpy ride. This channel is pretty thin, and it gets shallow very quickly so we both paid pretty close attention.
Planning v Actual
Start at: 8:00 am ACTUAL 7:25 am
End at: 1:30 pm ACTUAL 12:40 pm
Total Time: 5:24 hours ACTUAL 5:23 hours

This marina is pretty fancy and the price shows it. Tomorrow we will be on anchor!
