Travel Day Oct. 21, 23 (Grand Rivers, KY to Buchanan, TN) Travel Day #15

Scott here!
Travel Day #15 but we are 29 days into our trip as of today!

I’m back!! Today we are leaving Green Turtle Bay Resort and head to Paris Landing State Park in TN. Rita is in the process of putting together her post about our experiences here with photos!

We had a very good set of “days off” at GTB, but we need to keep moving south. Although, we will be going south on the Tennessee River, but did you know the Tennessee River actually is oriented north and south but the water flows from the south to the north? I didn’t!! At least not until I was reading the Waterway Guide this evening and I learned that. So everything is backwards. As we are heading south we are actually heading upstream. That means the red and green buoys are reversed. Red will be on our starboard side and green on our port side.

Future plans for us. Our plans are always changing, sometimes on the fly, but we need to start with something.

Oct. 21 – Paris Landing
Oct. 22 – Cuba Landing
Oct. 23 – Clifton Marina
Oct. 24-26 – Probably Safe Harbor Aqua Yacht
Oct. 27 – Fulton, MS probably Midway on the Tenn-Tom marina
Oct. 28-29 – Columbus, MS Marina
Oct. 30-Nov. 1 – Kingfisher Bay Marina in Demopolis, AL

That takes us to about the 32 parallel. Our insurance company requires we be above that until Nov. 1 due to Hurricane Season. Kingfisher Bay Marina is only allowing 1- or 2-night stays since this is “Transient Season” with all the Loopers heading south. I get it. So, we will extend our stay in a couple of spots and enjoy the rivers as we keep rushing to the salt water. Plus, it will give me time to work on the plans south of Demopolis to the Gulf and the Gulf Crossing. I think we will have a couple of anchorages before we get too Mobile, AL and that always takes more research. I have already reached out to loopers that are ahead of us to see what the water levels are like, barge traffic, and wait times at locks.
