Travel Day # 15 stats

Scott here. This is what happened today, Oct. 21, 2023.

What a good day! I am so happy to be able to say that and not say how much work this Great Loop thing is! K9 Jazzy was walked twice this morning, showers for the humans and we threw the lines about when we wanted too. No rush, no stress about dealing with a lock, just a run down the Kentucky Lake and looking at the beautiful creation God made.

How did the plan go? Well, it was a lot windier than it was predicted. But, the lake isn’t huge, so it didn’t seem horrible, but we were getting consistent gusts of 20 mph.

Start at: 9:00 am ACTUAL 8:49 AM
End at: 2:00 pm ACTUAL 2:08 PM
Total Time: 4:52 hours ACTUAL 5:21 Hours
Distance: 43.9 miles ACTUAL 44.3 miles
Avg. speed: 8.3 mph
Max speed: 10 mph

I ended up going pretty slow for the first few miles due to a lot of fishing boats and just enjoying the journey. We entered Lake Barkley after leaving the marina and took a very quick right into the Barkley Canal, this took us into Kentucky Lake. We stayed on Kentucky Lake for the day and docked at Paris Landing State Park for the night. It is a great deal at $0.80 a foot with our Looper discount.

Many, if not all, of the slips we have been in since leaving Hammond, IL we have our own well. This means we have a finger pier on each side of our boat. We are used to having a well with 2 boats in it with a finger on one side. Just something to get used to!
