Prop update

Been a while, so I thought I would update all y’all on what is going on. The prop is off the boat and still in the shop in MN. It was supposed to be done last week, but it is taking longer than expected due to all the welding! I will attach photos of the in-progress work.

Kaston Marine couldn’t get the prop off and took too long in getting back to me for the shipping, so I drove it up myself. We ended up using CenterPoint Marina to get the prop off. They guy, Larry, did a good job in getting the prop off – but I feel like they robbed me in time.

After talking with the manager it seemed they were not happy we didn’t use them to haul the boat out. Why would I use them when they told me they could haul it, look at in in the slings to see the damage and put it back in the water. Nothing else? That would have been a total waste of money.

Where the boat is located is a 10 minute drive from their office IF they hit all the red lights. Larry, the mechanic, was at the boat for 50 minutes. I was charge 1 ¾ hours of time since he had to load up his truck. The prop puller and torch, then he had to unload the truck. I had the same issue when they did some work on the engine. They justified that they trust Larry as he has been around for a long time and he knows what he is doing. They are not on my recommendation list in the Milwaukee area.

Any who, prop is off. Prop is at the shop. Oh the shop. I will thank Kaston for the introduction to Midwest Boat and Prop. Total professionals. Great communication. He gave me a tour of the shop and machine they will use to fix the prop as well as the print-outs the computer gives them indicting what “class” the
prop is coming in and going out. I will touch on that a little more once I get the props back and get the print outs in hand.

It was about 5 ½ hour drive up and 5 1/2 drive back for full day in the car. I don’t hate driving so it wasn’t a big deal. I just wanted it to get done.

I received a text this on Friday from the owner telling me it wasn’t going to be done and sent along some photos of the progress of the prop. Again, excellent customer service. He knows how to run a business and keep customers coming back and get that all-important word of mouth advertisement. CenterPointe could learn something from this business.

So, we are just living life as Camp Hosts in Dodge County. We “work” 5 days a week with Sunday and Monday off. Our work isn’t very difficult and we get to meet a lot of people. I am still working hard at liking people again. I am not there yet, it will take a while for me to get there. But, I have plenty of time
(I hope at least!)

I think that is all for my update. Enjoy the photos and video of the prop removal. I cannot upload a video on my WordPress site yet. That video will be uploaded on our Facebook page.
