April 19, 2023. Rita is still in MN visiting family. Today is a planned break day on working on the bottom of the boat to travel to our new location. It is just Jazzy and me! It is still cold. I didn’t know until the day before where we were going, but so far the plan is working out.

We left the state park at 9:49 am and arrived just outside Columbus, WI at 11:50 am. We drove to Astico Dodge County Park in 86 miles in 1:55 moving time. It was snowing, raining, and just a crappy day. But, the state park opened the dump station 15 minutes before I left. I didn’t have to haul the full black and grey tanks! That makes me happy.

We applied to be Camp Hosts here and were “hired”. No pay, it is a volunteer position and we are pretty excited about it. We will volunteer about 20 hours a week between the two of us and in exchange we will receive a free campsite with electric, water and sewer as well as firewood. We met with Dodge County HR for our ID cards and to review normal HR policies today (April 24, 2023). We then met with the Parks Superintendent. I am looking forward to this opportunity and able to give back a little bit! I will keep ya all updated on how this Camp Host thing works out!

I certainly didn’t want a job in WI as I don’t want the state to try and say we are living here. We are not! We will also make sure we are in WI for less than 6 months during the year.
